Press Release: Children’s Nebraska Names Yatin M. Vyas, MBBS, MD, to Physician Executive Leadership Role
OMAHA, Neb. (Nov. 6, 2025) – Children’s Nebraska has named a new physician executive leader to drive clinical excellence and serve as a strategic advocate for pediatric healthcare in the organization and throughout the region. Yatin M. Vyas, MBBS, MD, has accepted the role of executive vice president and chief physician executive and will begin at Children’s Jan. 14, 2026. He will lead Children’s teams to advance quality and safety, clinical effectiveness, accreditation, medical staff services, patient experience and research.
“Dr. Vyas is a dynamic, seasoned physician executive who will provide strong physician leadership and strategic vision,” said Chanda Chacón, MPH, FACHE, Children’s president & CEO. “He brings deep clinical experience and a strong track record of impact in children’s health, which will help us continue to pursue advancement in clinical quality, outcomes and experience to fully realize our mission."
Dr. Vyas joins Children’s from Penn State Health, where he served as the Children’s Miracle Network and Four Diamonds endowed chair of the department of pediatrics for Penn State College of Medicine and vice president and physician leader of the children’s care service line, as well as pediatrician-in-chief for Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. An NIH-funded researcher since 2003 with active R01 support, his research focuses on genome instability in inborn errors of immunity and cancer predisposition.
Prior to his time at Penn State, he was the Mary Joy and Jerre Stead Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and directed the division of Hematology/Oncology. He also served the department as vice chair and leader of pediatric research. Previously, Dr. Vyas was a faculty member in the department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
Dr. Vyas trained in pediatrics at the New York University Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital and completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell University Medical Center.
Dr. Vyas has completed the LEAD program through the Stanford University Graduate School of Business – a learning journey centered on executive leadership and innovation. He also holds certificates in Leadership Development for Physicians in Academic Health Centers from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business of the University of Pittsburgh. He is a scholar-graduate of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs Physician Leadership Development program.
