Press Release: Children’s Nebraska Recognized Among Nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report has ranked Children’s Nebraska in its 2025-26 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in the specialties of Pediatric Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, Pediatric Nephrology and Pediatric Neurology & Neurosurgery. “Earning these distinctions from U.S. News is an extraordinary accomplishment for our teams in Pulmonary Medicine, Nephrology and Neurosciences, as well as the entire organization,” said Chanda Chacón, MPH, FACHE, Children’s President & CEO. “This honor reflects Children’s commitment to leading the way and providing the highest-quality pediatric specialty care. Our clinical experts are united in providing excellent outcomes and experiences for patients and their families.” Children’s Pulmonary Medicine program is led by division chief Casey Burg, MD, and its Nephrology program is directed by division chief Melissa Muff-Luett, MD. The Pediatric Neurology program is led by division chief Sookyong Koh, MD, PhD, and the Pediatric Neurosurgery program is headed by division chief Arnett Klugh III, MD, in a unified Pediatric Neurosciences department. The 19th annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities nationwide in 11 specialties. For the 2025-2026 rankings, U.S. News, together with RTI International, a North Carolina-based research firm, collected and analyzed data from 118 children’s hospitals and surveyed thousands of pediatric specialists. Children’s hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, compliance with established best practices, and level and quality of hospital resources directly related to patient care.
