The Children’s Nebraska Neonatal CHD Risk Classification is designed to support delivery and neonatal care planning for infants prenatally diagnosed with congenital heart disease. This resource provides a standardized framework to help care teams coordinate communication, and determine appropriate delivery, transport and postnatal management needs
Risk levels are organized based on the likelihood of neonatal instability and anticipated need for intervention after delivery. Each classification includes recommended notification timing, transport considerations, destination planning and example cardiac diagnoses to support timely multidisciplinary coordination.
This resource is intended for use by maternal-fetal medicine providers, obstetric teams, neonatologists, pediatric cardiologists, NICU teams and hospitals involved in the care of fetuses and newborns with congenital heart disease.
