About Dawn M. Gary, MD
My name is Dawn Gary and I’m a pediatrician at Children’s Physicians, Embassy Park.
I was a neonatal intensive care nurse first, and that really got me interested in becoming a pediatrician. I wanted to take these children from being little tiny babies clear up through adulthood.
My patients would describe me as caring, compassionate, a good listener — but still fun. I try to help them figure out what’s going on and then make the best decisions they can for a good, healthy outcome. I listen to what the parents have to say and what the child has to say — and then try to figure out what the problem is and what their possible treatments are.
We are part of a medical home — so that means that we’ve got all of Children’s services at our fingertips. We have social services, psychology services, lactation support, nurses who are qualified to give good triage advice, and also help us keep up and make sure everyone’s coming in for their preventative care checkups. If our patients need to see a specialist, we’re connected with Children’s — which has the best specialists in the area.
The best advice I can give to parents and families is to make each day special — and that goes back to the fact that even though we can’t cure everything, we can do something to make your day better.

Always takes the time to listen, never judges, and develops a relationship with her patients. We have been seeing her for 14 years, and she still remembers our first visit! She is great with kids that have severe medical issues.

I would advise anyone to NOT use Dr. Gary. In the years I’ve known her through my stepchildren I have never failed to be shocked by her bedside manner and difficulty to deal with. At one point the office attempted to deny us a referral for psychiatric care and testing simply because it wasn’t what she would personally do in our situation. The child turned out to be autistic. Since this we have not been back and will not be. Over the years she’s made both parents and children feel shame for kids being “overweight” going off of assumed BMI, despite the kids hitting early puberty making them larger than most children their age, having a healthy diet with little junk food or sugary treats, and zero health issues that would exist in obesity, over eating, sugar intake, etc, and being extremely active, and one having juvenile arthritis that she missed completely for years. I have multiple kids with body issues in elementary school from arguments between parents about Dr. Gary’s stances.
