About Robert A. Cusick, MD
Robert Cusick, MD, has been practicing pediatric surgery in Omaha, Neb., for more than 20 years and has performed more than 10,000 procedures. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, completed surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati, pursued additional training in research at Boston Children’s and Harvard University, and completed a clinical fellowship at Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington. As a leader in his field, he lends his expertise through various appointments with the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA), the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and the American Board of Pediatric Surgery (ABPS).
Dr. Cusick is also active in global health, having worked in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico, and Vietnam. To ensure this important work progresses, he created the Travel Fellowship through APSA, which brings pediatric surgeons to the United States for additional training. His humanitarian work was recognized by the University of Nebraska Medical Center when he received the Leonard Tow Humanism Award, bestowed upon a faculty member demonstrating clinical excellence and compassion in the delivery of care.
A tenured surgeon at Children’s Nebraska, Dr. Cusick has developed long-standing relationships with providers across the state and beyond, fostering his mission to provide accessible and collaborative specialized care with outstanding outcomes. His experience and expertise have earned him various leadership roles within the health system.
Dr. Cusick’s clinical areas of focus include hernia repair, neonatal surgery, thyroid surgery, pectus excavatum, and bariatric surgery.
