Doctor Shah is amazing. He’s very caring and explains everything in detail. He seems to really care about the patients and listens to concerns. During our stay we had two amazing nurses, Janelle and Cassandra. They stayed on top of my son’s pain and made sure he was comfortable. Even though they were busy they kept checking in regularly and explained everything they were doing. We did have two separate night nurses who were not great. We could tell one would get frustrated with our son and even told him to stop crying, which was rude. As a one year old who cannot speak, she should have understood he can’t verbalize what was wrong. The other nurse just seemed to not care at all. She told our son to stop being dramatic. We definitely requested not to have those nurses again.

Overall the stay was good, nurses were great and the doctor was informative. The only issue I had was with the discharge and the confusion with her chart. I’m not certain what the name of the lady that discharged us was, we weren’t given a name. My daughter has a perforated appendix or acute appendicitis, because of the infection and fluid in her abdomen they didn’t want to perform surgery at this time and we would return in 8 weeks for the procedure. While we were being discharged we were given information based on her having the surgery, however, she did not have the surgery. We told the woman that she didn’t have the surgery and she seemed confused and provided information, but it still seemed a bit all over the place and we’re really uncertain of her restrictions or what we do during the 8 weeks before the surgery. It was also mentioned that we’d get a prescription and the pharmacy closed at four but the nurse told us later it closed at five. Additionally we were told she would be on amoxicillin for 7 days but when I picked up the prescription it was for five days of augmentin. I understand they are similar but it wasn’t what I was told. We contacted a case manager that said that the five days was in addition to the stay and that would be 7 days total. However, she started her antibiotics on Monday so that would actually be eight days from what I understand and they said yes it’s 7 days plus one extra dosage. It just didn’t seem clear. Also, on the after visit summary we have a pediatric surgery return patient appointment on 6-25-25. What is that for? To us it looks like that this is a follow up appointment for someone that had the surgery but again my daughter did not have a surgery. It would be great to just clear all this up and get accurate information. My apologies for any grammatical issues etc. this survey was sent to my phone and I couldn’t find it online. Thank you, Jon Barr
