My name is David Kaufman and I’m a pediatrician with Children’s Physicians, Eagle Run.

 

I became interested in pediatrics in medical school. I was really interested in both pediatrics and internal medicine. I really liked the age group of pediatrics and how resilient kids can be. Kids can get really sick — and yet at the same time, if you help them in a timely fashion, they can bounce back and heal quickly.

 

I think some of my patients think I’m pretty funny. I think their parents think that I’m very thorough and always take their concerns seriously. I either make sure that there is nothing more serious going on with their child — or, if there is, I find out what it is.

 

On a typical day, we’ll see kids with ear infections, sore throats — those are really common. We also see a lot of wellness visits during the day — a lot of those kids are healthy. And we take care of many kids with other types of problems, like ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I treat all of those patients and take care of them here in the office.

 

I have three kids, and I treat my patients very similarly to how I would want my own children treated. I don’t sleep at night if I’ve got a patient who’s sick and I’m worried about whether or not things are going to be okay, even though I may think that I’ve got it all under control — I still worry about that child as much as I worry about my own kids when they’re sick. Parents can know that I will treat their child like I would treat my own.
