Dr. Haney’s areas of clinical interest include pediatric physical abuse, failure to thrive and medical neglect. In addition to serving as Children’s Child Abuse division director, Dr. Haney is the medical director of Project Harmony, a children’s advocacy center in Omaha. She is currently the only board- certified child abuse pediatrician in the state of Nebraska. She is an assistant professor of Child Abuse Pediatrics at UNMC College of Medicine.
Dr. Haney’s other responsibilities include vice chair of the Board of Directors for Children’s Specialty Physicians and vice chair of the Pediatric Institutional Review Board at UNMC. On a state level, Dr. Haney serves on the Nebraska Child and Maternal Death Review Team and on the Governor’s Commission for the Protection of Children. Nationally, Dr. Haney is the Chair of the Council of Child Abuse & Neglect for the American Academy of Pediatrics. She was also elected to the Sub Board of Child Abuse for the American Board of Pediatrics.
